Did you get the new JBL Flip 6 or a new iPhone 16? You may want to connect your JBL speaker to your iPhone to enjoy immersive audio. That’s why I’m here to help you at every step of the process.
In this article, I will not only explain the method of connecting the JBL speaker to the iPhone but also guide you through troubleshooting any problems that may cause the pairing to fail.
There are two methods that you can use to connect your JBL speaker to iPhone; one is AUX and the other is Bluetooth. The second one is the most convenient and everyone uses it. However, wired connection is also an option, especially in cases where Bluetooth is not working on either device for some reason.
How to connect JBL Speaker to iPhone with Bluetooth?
In this guide, I’m using iPhone 14 Pro and JBL Flip 6 but for any other iPhone and JBL speaker the basic steps will remain the same. On iPhone, there will be almost no difference but for speaker, you can google the method to put your JBL speaker into Bluetooth pairing mode depending upon the model.
Step 1: Turn ON JBL Speaker and Enter Pairing Mode
On your JBL speaker (Here is JBL Flip 6), press the power button and speaker will turn ON. It will be indicated by a light on the power button.
To enter into Bluetooth pairing mode, press the Bluetooth button once. It is located next to the power button. (For flip 6 Bluetooth button is pressed once but for other JBL models you may need to press and hold it for a few seconds).
Step 2: Turn ON Bluetooth on iPhone
Now go to the settings of your iPhone, open Bluetooth tab, and Turn ON the Bluetooth.
Step 3: Select Your JBL Speaker From the List
Once Bluetooth is turned ON on your iPhone and the JBL speaker is already in pairing mode, you will see your speaker in the list of other devices. From here tap on your speaker name and it will be connected.
Step 4: JBL is Connected, Play the Music!
Now you will see your speaker in “MY DEVICES” section and the status will be connected. You can play the music and check if everything is good. You can click on the “info icon” on the right side of “connected” and disconnect or forget your speaker from here.
It was the first time connecting the speaker to the iPhone, and it showed up on other devices. Next time, it will show up in ‘MY DEVICES’ unless you forget it.
How to connect JBL Speaker to iPhone with AUX?
This method is not used much but still it’s an option if you ever need it. This connection is quite simple if you have an AUX cable and an adapter as you know iPhone does not offer AUX. All you need to do is plug the adapter into the charging port of your iPhone and then connect AUX cable on both sides (speaker and adapter).
If you have more than one JBL speaker, you can pair them together to get a loud party sound. Furthermore, you can install the JBL app on your IOS and control different settings of your iPhone directly from the app.
These were basic steps to connect your JBL speaker to your iPhone. These steps are simple and straightforward and everyone can perform them easily. But the problem is when the speaker refuses to connect and you don’t know the reason.
Troubleshooting Pairing issue on JBL Speaker
You may face some issues when connecting your JBL speaker to your iPhone. Some most common problems have been discussed below with their solutions.
Unable to See JBL Speaker in Bluetooth List
This is the most common problem that people face in setting up the connection. You will turn ON the Bluetooth but won’t see your speaker in the list of Bluetooth devices.
To solve this, remove some already paired devices from the list. If there are none, check whether your speaker is in pairing mode or not.
The speaker is connected but there is no sound
Sometimes you may face this problem when you see your speaker as connected but you will not hear any sound. Usually, it is not a problem, all you need is to turn the volume up.
